So sources aren't calling me back all day, so I decided I was going to make productive use of my time and help the rest of the reporters out with their busy schedules and do the video again - naturally I didn't mind :)

*sigh* procrastination
So lately I've been procrastinating because I'm dreading calling a source who's mad at the paper. THAT I will have to get over.
However, I do feel like I'm starting to fall into a nice groove with the paper, the routine and my coworkers. I came in on Saturday and was surprised to see only one reporter, AJ. I told her I thought journalism never stopped, but apparently on the weekend, only the designers come in and only one reporter comes in.
I came Saturday to cover a neighborhood reunion, but due to rain, it was postponed until later so I came back to the newsroom and AJ took me to the jail and the police station to do the crime blotter. That was neat and I got to learn that you never look up when you hear pounding on the windows of the jail (haha).
Well, ya learn something new everyday.
I went to the reunion and everyone was super friendly and I got to know a few people really well. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be reconnecting with their past and I wrote a fabulous piece on it that will publish this Friday. It's probably the most feature-y one I've written so far for the paper, so look forward to a Joan feature special.
